hi,

my 2003 325i (sport/premium) started making a grinding noise in the rear end. the noise doesn't happen when I step on the gas and seems to get worse, grinds harder as I come to a stop. any ideas?

Thanks.

Have you checked your brakes/rotors?

The problem is the noise comes and goes. I took it out this morning and it started doing it then it just stopped all of a sudden. Sometimes it wont make the noise at all. I would think that a bad wheel bearing would make noise constantly and brakes would get worse when you hit the brakes, this isn't the case for me

:dunno:

If it's a rotational noise, it has to be related to the drive line, differential, brakes, bearings or axles.

No way to know without pulling the wheel and takiing a look and starting to eliminate the obvious.

I'd start with teh bearings then the brakes. IF all is okay, you are looking at the axles (CVs) or the diff.

Good luck.
