I'm rebuilding my 1992 325i engine with 236k miles on after one of the piston rings broke, keeping all the parts but cleaning them off and reinstalling new rings and gaskets. We've been using conventional oil since the car has been bought and was wondering if it would be ok to switch to synthetic oil once the car is rebuilt and cleaned out. Is there any adverse effects to using synthetic on a high mileage car? Thanks.

:)Thank you for the help. Found out it wasn't piston rings, but a burnt valve on cylinder 3.. which saves us a lot of work :) . Do you have like a guide or a explanation on how to remove the exhaust valves from the head? Thanks, would greatly appreciate it.
