Received/Installed Clears Today

Well, I finally received my clears from Maximillian Imports. I ordered them during the last group buy.

Having read all the trouble everyone had with the Rear Corners, I kind of dreaded that part. Fortunately, it was not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. In fact, I installed both Rear Corners without having to remove any of the carpet or anything. It was really pretty simple.

One thing I wanted to note though, my two front corners were both slightly damaged. I have no way of knowing if this happened during shipping or what, but I called Maximillian and UPS and should have new ones sometime next week. I thought I would include a picture so everyone can see where the damage is, so here goes.

Both sides are the same way. That is actually the bottom of the corner where it is supposed to meet with the headlight. It is a very sharp point when it is not broken.

Unfortunately, both of mine are the same way. Hopefully, the next two will be okay.

Here is another pic of the Rear:

And just for fun, here is one at the front:

Is Maximillan any cheaper? I know the 02 clears are more expensive than the 01s, but was just wondering why you chose them instead of getting them from your local dealer, etc. I need to replace one of my front ones as well, it's cracked:cry:. Looks nice:thumb: .
I dont think the dealer will sell them to you since they are technically illegal. Somone posted that Cutter would not sell them. So you need to go through a import like Maximillian.

Jeff
Wanting clears for the wifes wagon.
Just noticed your car is a coupe, no proble for your car. Sedans have the problem and wagons have the problem:-(

Jeff_DML is correct. You cannot get Clears for 2002 Sedans and Touring Models from your dealer. Maximillian Imports actually imports them from Germany. The reason for this, is DOT requires an Amber Reflector on the front of all Automobiles. On the Sedans/Touring the Reflector is built into the Front Corner. By replacing the Corner, you lose the reflector. Since there is not one on the bumper like the Coupes, the car is not legal.

Getting the Clears was never a problem before, because they were all the same. But now that the Sedan/Touring has a new Front End, you can no longer use the parts off of the Coupe.

As for price, I purchased during a group buy. Cost for all the lights was $399.00 plus $12.00 for shipping. I have no idea if the cost would be different for a Touring model.
I think it's so stupid that they won't offer the clears for the sedans because of the whole "amber reflector in the front" thing. If that's the case they can at least offer the package with just the sides and rears and not include the front corners. At least that would be something. They have it on the 5 series, and they keep the front corners with the amber reflectors. Just the sides and rear are clear. Why not offer the same thing for the 3 series SP? Sheesh!:thumbdwn:

It seems like they will be more expensive than Maximillian Imports. For the 02 sedans you need the outer and inner light housings for the back. At evosport that would be $380 just for the rear lights. With Maximillian the group buy was $399 for the complete set, including sides and fronts. Individual purchase was $425. And they are OEM. It seems like they would be a better buy.

From evosport:
325i, Xi, 330i, Xi (4dr only)
2002 on bmw-e46ct5 White/Red Tail Light Assembly - Outer Corner $275/pair
325i, Xi, 330i, Xi (4dr only)
2002 on bmw-e46ct6 White/Red Tail Light Assembly - Inner/Trunk $105/pair
