I only have 200 miles on the car....less than 2 weeks old. I barely pressed the pedal at the wrong time and went from 35 to 70 in a split second...right in front of a cop in a 45 mph zone. Freakin BMW

He did say it was a beautiful car

Thats Horrible, I feel bad for you; Hopefully it was not an expensive ticket...

I once got pulled over and almost got a ticket with 8KM on the car; but I managed to talk my way out of it; I told him the car was new, and the cruise control resume button was hit and it accelerated to that speed; Cop asked if I was kidding him, and I said no - I said to him I should have known better, but the big V8 accelerated so fast by the time I hit the cancel button it was already speeding;

he asked to look at the Speedo and found the car had a total of 28KM... he didn't issue the ticket; but did say the read the owners manual before taking it out next time...

maybe you can explain what happened and get the ticket reduced? I guess I'm kidding - not sure that would work...

I was having a little too much fun driving home from the dealer in my then new E500, which was my first car with a V8. Well the nice officer pulls up beside me and basically tells me to take it easy. Luckily no ticket.

Driving it home from the Performance Center keeping the 550 within the posted limits was difficult, but I didn't think that the local police would look too kindly on a "hot shot" from NJ.

Radar detector can help a lot, and depending on where you live, a laser jammer may be needed too.

Don't get a ****ing Cobra. That thing is a useless brick.

LOL... sounds familiar except for the outcome.
My wife was driving home from SC to NJ in our (HER) E90 335, long story short;

Two Speeding tickets, two different states 1/2 hour apart! the one in NC (85 in a 55) had the "must appear in court" box checked
...Fines, lawer fees, and surcharges...

You could always just pee your pants and tell the officer you really had to go. He might take pity on you. Granted, you will have pissed your pants/car - but crying and showing cleavage might not be an option. ; )

One teenager did that here on one of our highways, told the cop he had to pee so he was rushing to the washroom. 170kmh on 100. Slapped with a huge fine and the insurance will take care of him for the next few years.

Did he go the full nine yards with the self-soiling?

+1
Cobra is useless, I use escort redline which is amazingly quite yet very accurate. Have survived several 120mph dashes without tickets now. But that alone may not always help, need to be extra alert with this v8

One just needs to be careful. A radar detector, no matter how expensive, will only save you if the police radar is on. It's no help if it's turned on instantly, or if one is being paced.

Yes your right if the cop is behind you pacing you, the radar detector is no help, but speed traps are always set up to get you as you speed pass, thats where the the radar detector is in valuable, I speak from experience. I've had K band Ka band and Laser shot at me and I detected all of them with plenty of time to slow down.

If you get a ticket from pacing that is just incompetence in my opinion. I don't have a tint and I switch off my auto dimming mirrors. I also don't speed as much at night.

There are other ways to get tickets than radar and pacing - police spotter planes and Lidar. This is why I also run a Zaon MRX airplane detector, and 4 laser jamming sensors (I might run 6 on the BMW).
