I have a 2009 X5 4.8 with 45,384 miles and has been working beautifully with no problems until now. I took it in to the dealership for it's scheduled maintenance and 4 days after receiving it back, lost all engine power and had to pull over to the side of the highway. After restarting it, it worked fine until the next day when it did the same thing. Now, I am getting the following messages:

Reduced Power/failed AWD and DSC

Any ideas of what this could mean?

I'm afraid of driving it anywhere and getting stranded.

I would hate to think that the service shop did something to it...just find the coincidence very odd.

Thanks!

There will ne a few DTC (diagnotic trouble codes) that are stored in the DDE. Without those codes you (and we) are pissing in the wind. 10 people could post "I had the exact same thing, it was ___" and have 10 different causes. Yours could be the 11th.

No assumptions that it could be a transfer case issue - it could be many things.

Find out what DTC codes are being set and that that the dealer is checking these out rather than suggesting "Well we 'think' you have a bad....." and this will cost xxxx$.

Get it all documented!
