2002 540 with factory Nav

Replaced the Nav as it was eating CD or would not eject the CD, etc.

New unit in - no screen, no menu. Everything works but the display - CD, tape and radio are fine, but minus display.

Does the new unit need to be "seen" by the system or should it just work?

Do I need to reset the overall system, perhaps by disconnecting the battery?

Anyone done this?

UPDATE: had to start with an older version of the OS - 18.2 - and work forward. All is well now. I settled upon 22.1. Some new features, a little brighter.

thanks

What version of hardware is the new nav you have? Is it MK2, MK3, MK4? Is it a CD or DVD nav?

new Nav

It's a replacemnt of the original unit - a Mark III which is the last of the CD types.

Works fine now. I pondered upgrading to the DVD tupe but got lazy and stuck with stock. As little as I use the feature I'm happy to have not bothered trying to upgrade. the new software (22.1) includes a nice "Emergency" menu item.
