When I first got my 2005 545i the runflats seemed fine, but I soon got tired of the harsh ride quality. The tyres developed feathered edges on the tyre blocks which caused vibration and noise that got progressively worse and worse.
I have recently changed to non runflats, and they are significantly better in terms of ride and especially noise. Grip seems about the same. Also they are much more reasonably priced (runflats over $700 each in Australia !!), and availability is better.

CJ9999,

Have to agree with you about the ride quality and noise. I like the security of run-flats and kept them on my C5 to make sure my wife never had a flat. But if they would have come standard on my 550i, I think I would have changed them out.

Price is big factor too as you mentioned.
