So I’m having similar issues I bought a 2011 535i at the end of February screen was blacked out no radio functions or anything the guy I got it from had the battery replaced the day before he said that if I drive the car it will reset the radio functionality. So I’ve checked all the fuses checked for codes with an ancel bm700 and have drove 700 miles and nothing changed until one night my kid was messing with the idrive controller by the shifter he was just pushing random buttons but when I turned the car on the screen was working and everything was functioning as it should. Two days later screen went a reddish orange color and then went blacked out again. So a few more days of driving and trying to push random buttons and checking the codes again and it randomly started working again this time it lasted about a week and it went orange and turned off again today some one please help do I need a new hu do I need a new screen I don’t really have the extra cash to take it to a bmw mechanic and I’d rather acquire the things I need to fix it my self like a laptop and the cable etc.
Can't say based on what's known. Could be some intermittent connection, or could be hardware failure. I'd start by reading Fault Codes.

Only code I see on there that would be for that is faulty central information display I cleared it but nothing happened maybe it will work tomorrow or when I get back to my car I’ll check the codes and post a more accurate description

Hi Shawn, can you please also PM the process to swap my failing CIC head unit for a replacement used CIC head unit? Many thanks :)
Install CIC
VO Code CIC
Wipe Donor CIC FSC Codes
Load OEM VIN Matching FSC Codes
Install new Map Data if needed.

Hola Shawn, ¿podrías enviarme también las instrucciones? Las necesito para reemplazar el CIC de un F20 2011 por uno similar. Muchas gracias.
PM sent.

Hey shawn, just installed a used CIC in my 2012 535xi and am having trouble finding a detailed walk through on coding the new unit to the car. As of now the unit is up and working, radio is good but have no NAV and no oil/tpms readings. I still have the old HDD but recently copied to an SSD that i would like to use, but if the old HDD is recommended i can still use it instead. Please let me know if you have any insights, thank you! Also, i downloaded Mikes easy BMW Tools, and have NCS Expert, BMW Coding Tool, INPA, Tool32, WINKFP, and NCS Dummy, but it said it failed to download FTDI CDM DRIVER PACKAGE - Bus-d2xx and VCP Driver, are those needed for the CIC replacement or should i not worry about those?

1. Install Donor CIC
2. VO Code Donor CIC
3. Wipe Donor FSC Codes
4. Load Factory Original FSC Codes

If you want to reuse your SSD, you can put it in 1st.

And as Elthox rhetorically asked, you have F10, so need E-Sys and psdzdata, and an ENET Cable.

Ok so all i need is those 2 programs mentioned? Don't need fsc tools, ncs expert and all those other programs? And would you happen to have those program download links on hand? Appreciate any help given!

1) Install replacement CIC
2) Wipe Donor FSC Codes (Flashing will not wipe them)
3) Install original OEM VIN Matching FSC Codes
4) Inject CAFD into CIC and VO Code CIC.
