I'm not sure what BMW makes their plastic parts out of, but it doesn't hold up very well. I recently replaced the front brakes on my 1998 roadster, and the brake pad wear sensor plug just crumbled. Unfortunately, it was the car side of the plug that crumbled, not the sensor side, which I had a replacement for.

Thankfully, this is an easy part to replace. The replacement plug is BMW part number 61131393742. However, as you dig out the old crumbly plug, be sure to not damage the two pins and wires. Once you can separate the two plugs, you can remove a keeper on the car-side plug which releases the two pins with their wires.

The old pins simply slide into the new plug and are held in place with the keeper clip. Then just plug-in the sensor and mount the plug in its case.
