Replacing CHAMP2 Business Navigation F10 LCI

Hello,

I have a 2013 F10 LCI that has the small screen business navigation, also known as CHAMP2. I’m planning retrofitting the rear view camera, but it seems that my current navigation unit lacks some video module needed do display then image of the rear view camera. The retrofit documentation states that the Navi should have either TV function or DAB support, and my unit has neither . I know that upgrading to NBT would be better, but not for me as the car has the combo box unit also, and doing the NBT retrofit would mean modifying the installation and I just don’t want to do this. Also I would lose the ability to send navigation destinations via the My BMW app directly to the car.

So, what I thought is the following: replacing my current CHAMP2 unit with another one that has either the TV function or the DAB support. With the help of realoem I have identified the following part that would be exchangeable for my car:

So, I have searched a unit with the code 65129317872 on eBay. I have found several but it seems they were installed on a F20 or F30. I have several questions, maybe someone knows the answer:

1. The new unit needs to be flashed in order to have the VIN changed? ( I would probably go to a specialist)

2. One the unit is installed and flash on my car, it will behave like it was installed from the factory on a 5 series? I’m concerned about what picture will appear when I change the driving mode. Currently it displays a sedan 5 series F10. If I take a unit that was on a 1 series, it will display a hatchback F20, even after the unit was flashed?

Thank you in advance!

I see, I will switch back the old unit then, as that one has it. I’m thinking that between units with different part numbers some may have it, while others don’t.

The old unit should go back without any coding, right?
It should. If old Unit had it, new one should too. Under BMW Services, is there no option to Update Services?
No, there isn`t, that is strange. I clearly remembering the old unit having the option to Update Services also the menu option name was something like Connected Drive or Connected Services.

Yes. Since CHAMP2 had no FSC Codes to Import, I think you need to write car VIN to CHAMP2 to get Telematics working.,

E-Sys => Expert Mode => FSC Extended
Use Diag Address 0x63
Press Identify and HU_CHAMP2 should Populate in Base Variant field
Select WriteDataByIdentifierVIN
Select >> to move WriteDataByIdentifierVIN to right side
Enter xxxxxCARxVINxxxxx in Pop-up Field
Select “Start” button and check Log window for “ok” result.
Writing the VIN didn`t do the trick ( also I remembering doing it before upgrading the FSC codes). I checked the status of the FSC codes, I think the ones that are rejected or have their status listed as Not Available are the old FSC codes for the unit:

Font Personal computer Computer Technology Electronic device

Computer Personal computer Output device Gadget Font

Computer Personal computer Laptop Netbook Output device

Currently the main menu looks like this:

Automotive design Automotive tire Motor vehicle Automotive exterior Car

We can see the "BMW Services" label. And if I access the "BMW Services" option, this is what I have:

Product Automotive design Font Personal luxury car Vehicle

I slapped the old unit back for comparison:

Automotive design Vehicle Personal luxury car Auto part Automotive exterior

Car Automotive tail & brake light Vehicle Hood Motor vehicle

Should I read the FSC codes status of the old unit, that was originally on the car? Maybe there is a FSC code that I`m missing? Searching online I have learned about the following FSC code:

Champ2 BMW Apps Enabling Code 008E

Maybe I have this FSC code on the original unit, but didn`t get it in the FSC kit I have bought?

If you are lucky, you can just install a replacement CHAMP2 Head Unit, Inject CAFD, and VO Code it without having to flash it, and then activate the FSC Codes. Your biggest issue is the FSC Codes. Ideally you would use your OEM FSC Codes for Navigation Application, Navigation Enabler, Voice Recognition, Media Player, etc. If Donor CHAMP2 Head Unit contains FSC Codes with a newer Creation Date than your VIN Matching FSC Codes, you will NOT be able to use yours, meaning you would need to use an Emulator / Activation module and the Donor FSC Codes.

You have one rejected FSC Code, AppID 36 (24) - Voice Recognition (Champ2 iSpeech High), and that is because it is left over from Donor, as your VIN does not have a 24 FSC Code issued to it to override it.

This is not an FSC Code issue. You are missing ConnectedDrive Services, and it is not FSC Code based. I think you need to flash CHAMP2 with your FA so it takes your VIN.
Thank you for your answer! Reading some flashing guides it’s clear that this procedure is not for a noob like me. I think it’s best to find someone locally that has a power source and has done this before. I will keep this thread updated.
