I am replacing my trunklid this weekend. The old one has some nice gold trim (a.k.a. rust)! I was wondering if anyone has done this and has some advice. Also, the trunklid came off of a 530i, mine's a 525i. I would like to replace it with the correct badge. Any ideas on this would be helpful.

Shouldnt be too bad. Wiring harness and make sure the new one has good seals. the badge is stuck on with double stick. You can just pry it off. It shouldnt take any paint with it. If it does just touch up and wait a few weeks before you put the new badge on.

use floss to get the badges off
you will need some extra hands for this job unless you don't mind some damage to your rear end!

good luck, have fun:thumbup:

Thanks for the advice. It was a lot simpler than I expected. With the breaks we took from the heat, it took about 3 hours. It looks great. I was a little nervous because it came from Louisiana(yes, the car was part of Hurricane Katrina). The color matches great and I used my wiring, so everything works. :D
