What soap are you using?

some spray my wife had from the bathroom and I bought some multi surface cleaner (Walmart brand) "Good value"....a good scrub brush for about half hour...done all before work. Yesterday morning took a paint scraper to the center counsel...this result gives me incentive to go after the 05 soon.

Kinda changing the subject, but I snagged up a BMW engine this weekend. I'm not sure which engine it is, but it's an aluminum block inline six.

Rescue Reds steering is extremely tight remember I've done the fluid change...but will this part ease up the tight steering?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/202408044577 Research shows that was one of the complaints about the the early X3s... stiff steering...
Happy day after turkey day!

It is the universal joint/flex coupling that is between the steering shaft and the rack. If it is seized it could cause the steering to be tight. I may be interesting to jack both front wheels in the air and without starting the engine see how free the steering is. It should offer almost no resistance. If you want to do a bit more diagnosis, you could pop off the tie rod joints and make sure both wheels turn easily. it si possible you have a seized ball joint or upper strut mount.

Man...she sure was a looker in her day...got to sort out a few things yet : breaks, o2 sensors, rear diff. maybe MAF sensor, steering and locks.
Just cleared a airbag light :
safety battery terminal? I was certain these early X's didn't require registering the battery.
