So I have Rheingold installed on my laptop and I have used it successfully 3 or 4 times. Every time I use it I go through my learning curve all over again specifically with getting it to connect to my car. Last time I had the same issue and I figured it out quick and I think it was related to the port setting or something but I cannot remember what I did. Does anyone have a diagnosis process for finding out what I need to do to get it to work again?

The port setup is the same as Inpa .
The thing is once you set it up the PC should remember it.
Are you using a PC or a Mac with a virtual machine running
Windows?

The port settings are not readable till you plug the cable in .
Are you doing anything else between diag sessions that would
change the port settings.

My W10 PC took a windows update a few days ago and reset the com port settings. To fix, go into the advanced com port settings for latency and change from 16 to 1. Always check that first if you have connection issues.

I'm running a PC with windows 10. The latency was at 16, I changed it to 1 and it still does not connect. I also tried a bunch of different ports without success. Very frustrating! The only other device I connect this laptop to is a printer.

Whatever Port you set up during installation is the one you should use.
Typically this is port 1. You can use other ports but it has to match
what the software thinks it should be.

The e90post coding subforum would be the place to go for these sorts
of problems.
