thanks to a caddy sportin some 22's, i had to repaint the hood, because it was begining to rust. here's some pics for your enjoyment. oh, and i also wanted to add some depth to the black roof, so i went ahead and recleared it.:thumbup:

This may be a stupid question, but how do you get the coats even on top of the roof? Do you stand on a chair or something to get a better angle, or does it not matter?

Since you said you are adding depth, I take it that the roof was already painted black? I would really like to see some pics as that sounds pretty cool. I might consider it, but I'm afraid the south Texas sun would turn the cabin into an oven if I did. If it looks too cool, though, I may have to do it anyway and just wear a foil hat.

yes it was the first thing it did. the funny thing is that my front cover doesn't have any.
but i didn't order a clear bra kit, i made mine from some 3m rock guard protective film. i got to get some more, for the edge of the fenders.

naw. i stand at 5-11", i'm taller the car. lol
but what i have to do is. keep the gun tip, at least 8" away from the painted area, and the gun needs to have a 8" spray pattern, then you overlap each stroke at 50%, it's the same for the base and clear.

if you look at the pics of the roof. starting with the first and work across. you'll see in them the lights and what looks like a bug in the paint or the pic. it's just a little spec. in the photo's, what it really is, is the fire nozzle at the roof of the paint booth. in the last you can see my ring on my finger. now that's depth. yes it was painted black to start with. with two coats of clear, so i just recleared with 2 more coats, to add depth. last summer i couldn't tell if the roof being black made a diff. in the heat. at work i just left the sunroof in the up position to help keep cool. but the black roof does make a big diff.. you'll get nice looks at you. even nicer ones with the sun roof poped up. as a matter fact, my wife got quite a few nods form some guys, last summer. one even came from a mercedes owner. and when the sunroof is closed, it blends in so well that you have look hard to see one.

good, and one way to know if the gun tip is 8" away from the painted area. is take your hand, point your thumb towards you, and then your pinky away from you making them both straight as possible, that should be 8". it's a good way to measure your manhood too.
