It doesnt sound that bad __your parts are going to cost you some money. Like the NAV, CD changer in glove box, but once you run the diagnostic everything will be more clearer. The cosmetic work maybe around $2500/$3000 for the hood work and sensor replaced plus trim (hopefully no damage to the suspension)..

With any other car I'd say keep it if you bought it far greater than retail value. But for these cars I'd say get it off your hands asap.
I never shun from a car thats been in a fender bender provided it's around the rear or sides. But front hits I avoid all together - especially on these sensitive bytches.
Actually rear hits on these cars are far worse to deal with than a front

Alot of electronics run through the back of the car. It's also easier to replace fenders than rear quarter panels.

To the OP I would cut my losses and sell. You could still have problems potentally creep up from time to time in the future. To me it's not worth it if you can just pay a little more and not deal with it.

SALVAGE 750i

Good Morning All,
I found a NAV system on Ebay for $800 from an 05 745. It is being advertised as being compatible, but I have heard that if it isn't the exact same part number as the one that came out of the car, that it would require reprogramming? Not sure about this. I also found a CD changer for about $35. Thanks for all the inputs. You guys are great. I appreciate all the help. This has been really stressful so far, so i am crossing my fingers as I wait for results from the diagnostic.

Pictures of 750i Salvage

Hi Everybody,
Here are the pictures you have been asking for, sorry for the delay. Today's update is that I got the car in the shop for a full diagnostic test, but until I get the results back, here are the pics to further speculate on what might be needed. Please feel free to pass along any opinions on the damage you see. Thanks a lot for your input.

It looks like a LOT of trouble IMHO. Many times salvage cars sometimes can't even be titled, right? Why was this one "salvaged"? Do you KNOW that this one could be titled and insured? Personally, I would think that whoever sold it at auction was aware of the cost of the repairs and decided not to go through those expenses but rather to leave that to a professional capable of doing the work themselves. Not being knowledgeable of these cars, your going to basically be paying retail to get this car back in shape. If the engine won't run past 1,000 RPM, you may have MAJOR engine work needed so let's be conservative and say your repairs on that car could run around the same $'s you paid for the car at auction ($18K)

Looks like the car took a light tap to the nose set off the air bag lights and tripped the computer not to restart, pretty common to be honest. The car was then sent to the yard where the low life terd bags took what ever they thought was worth money, I would have the dents taken out by a paintless dent guy, you need new front bumper trim and prob the hood hinge is bent, and front bumper needs a respay and a pdc sensor all no big deal. Have a bmw shop get the car running and reset all the lights. Cd chnager is not a huge deal and looks like it may even be there missing the cartridge and the plastic trim cover. Have the shop that sprays the bumper trim re align the hood as its not off by much. get a nav unit and an amp and u should be good.

Bro this is what you have to do, have it seen by a reputable auto collision shop and tell him you're interested in getting your car repaired and want an estimate. (I'd have it towed there to make it seem more legit. Towing is cheap). You'll get an estimate within 24 hrs. The estimate will be shown and explained what cost is for what damage/repair. TELL THEM YOU WANT IT MINT WITH ZERO DETECTION AND WILL EXERCISE THEIR GUARANTEE POLICY IF IT ISN'T. A reputable auto collision shop (no cheapos man) covers everything from interior, computer, electrical, body, under the hood, etc., because if they don't cover a certain field they normally deal with ones who specializes in the field and consults with them. Once you get an estimate you will know exactly what you need. You will be able to see if you can get certain parts cheaper yourself or even ask here and get help. Then you can see if you want to keep it or not. All this here is speculation. We can only help to a certain degree.

As long as the cost of it being fully repaired in addition to the cost of purchase still falls a few grand cheaper than retail price then it's a good bargain; selling it in the future with a salvage title will force you to sell it very cheap.

The old parking sensor may be hanging on by the wire back behind the bumper and may even still be good. The bigger concern is if the mounting bracket for the sensors is bent up.

You are missing a few modules back there in the trunk! No Video Module, No DVD drive, no nothing! As far as the changer, your just missing the cartridge and need a new door! That telematics unit though doesn't look right. Did someone already try repairing the car? It looks like it and they used the wrong parts!

The modules alone should set you back 2-3K including programming! As far as the motor, what the hell happened? It looks like someone seriously hit that motor somewhere because the top cover is cracked, and from what I've seen it takes a good amount of force to do that!

In all honesty, take off the front bumper and hood and just get the engine diagnosed. From there work your way to the electronics, and then the body stuff shouldn't be too much.

Salvage 750i update monday27 sep

Good Morning All,
I plan on listing the car at $16,900. I think with $3000 of work it could be a sharp car, but this is a little outside of my original budget. Thanks for all of your inputs and I would like to have any other thoughts or opinions you may have on this situation. You guys have been great. I appreciate your help as I have been investigation this car.
Best Regards,
Torch:)

Good Morning All,

It is being advertised as being compatible, but I have heard that if it isn't the exact same part number as the one that came out of the car, that it would require reprogramming? Not sure about this. I also found a CD changer for about $35. I can buy a primered fender for about $250 and a new primered hood for less than $500. I don't know yet if it would be just cheaper to have a body shop take out the rather small dents in these areas vice replacing and repainting. I plan on moving forward with taking the car to have it diagnosed, possibly as early as today. I think that the amplifier may also be missing which should be located next to the NAV system in the trunk. That is going to cost around $250, so quite a bit in parts so far. i will try to acquire the parts as needed if I can confirm the engine is good. I deally I will know this by Monday. Thanks for all the inputs. You guys are great. I appreciate all the help. This has been really stressful so far, so i am crossing my fingers as I wait for results from the diagnostic.

FYI - The Logic 7 Amp is closer to $600 than it is $250 (from eBay)
