I just had some scratches on my '01 325Ci Orient Blue daily driver buffed out at the dealer as an extended part of his "free wash" every Saturday service. He said he put a "sealer" on afterwards. First, What is "sealer", and second will Dawn take it off when I do my full "Ripsnort detail" in 2 weeks?

Heh, "Ripsnort Generic detail" that is...ie, this is what I do.

Anyway..he's probably talking about a swirl mark removing product that will cover the small scratches (swirls). Yes, dawn will strip the "sealer" out too. Your best bet to permanently remove swirls or slight scratches is to polish it out with a fine hand polish or use a random orbital machine polisher. Many on this board swear by them as do I.

Rule number 1 of maintaining a perfect finish: Never ever ever let the dealer touch the car, washing or waxing it. Do it yourself! :)
