640D Loose Seat

Hi Walt White Coupe,

Sorry - I don't have a TSB reference or number. What I can tell you is my car was in 4 times for this issue. 1st time they replaced some 'fixings', second time they replaced the seat runners, 3rd time they applied what they told me was a 'repair kit'.

I was fed up by then, so, took 640ijims's advice and demanded they replace the seat pan. At the fourth attempt, the issue is now completely fixed and good as new. The paperwork I have post the repair that actually worked says 'Replaced offside front seat base and frame'.

My advice would be to not let them fob you off with any patch work or repair kits, 640ijims's advice is bang on - demand they replace the seat base/pan AND frame.

Cheers

Same issue here. I have taken it in multiple times. Apparently last time the head foreman did some "rig" to fix the issue. It worked for a little bit but now it is back. I have found about 5 or 6 threads on this issue between varying forums and I am going to email these to them. I have an appointment set up next Tuesday, January 31. I will report back with any updates.

Just want to give some feedback. After multiple fix attempts, including the TSB and some other stuff, I finally managed to get them to replace the seat base as per the post above. Happy to report that the issue is completely gone. I seriously feel like I'm driving a brand new car.

Thanks very much 640ijims.

My apologies for taking so long to report back but they ended up replacing the seat pan. I am happy to report that the seat has now felt solid for a full month with no movement. Hopefully the fix works for a while.

So I had the "seat looseness" on my 2013 650ix and had it at the dealer for my end of factory warranty service. They replaced what they called "SEAT MECH. ASSEMBLY" part #52-10-7-351-859. Problem fixed. (Website calls it "Seat Frame")

As a side note, I had complained after an 8 hour trip that I felt like I was in a torture rack in that front seat because the seat bottom was so hard. Seems that after the replacement the "padding" is softer and more comfortable.

Part numbers for seat movement problem

Replaced seat pan again yesterday, seat solid again.

I believe problem is letting seat back "fall" back into position after releasing and putting forward for rear seat access...dunno..just sayin'
Thought I'd post p/n's for those affected last week (3/1/17)
Part numbers replaced:
52-10-7-314-275 mounting how're
52-10-7-375-199 seat pan

I still believe that allowing seat back to fall into position after moving it forward for rear seat access is either the or a contributing culprit!
