According to "audikiller" on the e46fanatics board. I emailed Turnermotorsports and got the same reply. Keeping fingers crossed! :thumb:

COOL!!! :thumb: CAI, Shark Injector... My 325i is gonna kick a$$! :D
did they give any word on what to expect from it? I know Jim C was playing with the Vanos code .. I wonder if he was able to pull any more power out of the M54? I'd just be happy to get rid of the 'soft' accel & decel .. I want some power when I stomp on the pedal..

Also, maybe someone can answer this. I know the Shark Injector records your VIN, and you would not be able to upload the software to more than one car.. is that also true if you restore your factory software? (i.e. can you sell the Shark to someone else if you later sell your car?)

Alex325i: Yep! ;) Let's hope the shark will infest some kind of beast into the 325s!

Edge/330ci: Hmm...the "soft" accel & decel can be tuned by adjusting the potentiometer. A lot of tuners do that to the cars anyway. On the drivers' end, we thought the car has more power, but in actual fact, the range on the potentiometer is shortened. Car still have the same power as before. ;)

Is this about getting Shark Injector being available for 2001+ model e46?

I have been looking for this. Any more info on this Vince?

Really hate to burst your bubble...

Two springs ago when I first got my 323Ci, I emailed TMS regarding the Shark Injector. They had on their website that the injector will be ready by June of 2000. June came and went, no Shark Injector. Emailed TMS again and they said by August. August came and went, no Shark Injector. CALLED TMS and they said they HOPE to get it by the end of the year. End of the year came and went, no shark injector.

Finally I gave up and got the Dinan chip. My best estimate would be to wait about 2 years before Jim C. readies his software after a new engine comes out. So the earliest y'all might see the Shark Injector for the 325/330 will probably be sometime this summer, if not later.

I hope I am wrong, of course.

So you're telling me the e46 has a pot somewhere that controls the delay in the throttle pedal? - would you have any more information on this? AFAIK, this was a software thing...

I emailed Turner the same day that audikiller did and they told me that they've had NO reponse from Conforti and had NO idea as to an ETA.

Hmm...Hack brought up an interesting observation. Let's push the "spring date" to say end of this year. Least we won't get too excited if the injector doesn't surface in spring. :(

I know Jim is a *real* person. But doesn't he has any kind of contact address or email? That one site he has is not very well informed. Seems like he works underground and delivers the injectors to dealers after midnight in black rain coat and hat. Then all of a sudden, dealers might start selling the injectors for M54...:yikes:

Re: Re: ...

You bet! Confirmed with Bentley manual too. Works like the dimming feature of a light. Say you have to turn from 0deg to 180deg to power up the light from nothing to full intensity. You can adjust the pot such that it will maximise the current flow at 90deg instead of 180deg. Now you accomplish the full intensity with a 1/4 turn intead of 1/2 turn. Nothing has changed in terms of intensity of light.

Not sure if Dinan software adjusts the pot. Also adjustment need not be a mechanical job.

shipping date isn't as important as knowing whether or not he's futzing with the VANOS like AA or AutoT. if he's not, I may just scratch software off my list all together. if someone could just slip us that detail.

He's a bit of a recluse. I remember the days when bimmer.org didn't exist and I was reading alt.autos.bmw that Jim Conforti sometimes reads and contributes to that board. Also in the early days of .org he would post on there (not the E46 board) sometimes.

However, a couple of "enthusiasts" had really pissed him off so he stopped responding to emails and stopped contributing to the boards. There was a lot of back and forth between some guy accusing him of cooking his numbers, and him trying to explain the "adaptation" phenom on ODB-II and how to properly dyno an ODB-II car that got him so riled up now it's almost impossible to talk to Jim C. unless you attend a Gateway Tech or live in Utah. From what I've heard he's actually quite personable and very knowledgible but will not respond to any web/email inquiries...And he won't release any prelim. numbers unless he's got something to back it up now. So, most likely you won't find out about the Shark Injector for the 325/330 until the day he start sending them out. :(

Jim C does lurk on e46fanatics. He posted there as recently as Jan 8th. (actually that's the only time I show him posting there..)

.. and that was a response to someone bringing up what Hack was talking about above.
Steve Dinan lurks as well. he told me that it's infrequent, though because he's sick of all the misinformation out there (here on the web).

hehehe... usnet. I've been doing usenet for a long time as well. in fact, before the internet explosion, I participated in fidonet groups and ran my own BBS (replicating email and fidonet forums).

Hell Yes! :D I just might have to look into that.
I'm very interested to see what the claims are with the Shark Injector. Dinan was unable to get any additional HP out of these engines. He said that BMW has eeked every ounce out of them possible. He also had some interesting comments about Jim C. and his stuff.

Any idea of the HP gain claims?

Dinan used my car to develope the 330 software. I was completely let down by the results, especially after they had my car a total of 3 months.
