Should I buy a Siemens corless phone?

  • Yes. The reason they make such crappy fans is because they concentrate on their home electronics.

Should I buy a Siemens cordless phone in spite of the aux fan fiasco?

I'm about to order a Siemens cordless phone, but should I be boycotting Siemens products due to the aux fan issue? I would hate for my cordless phone to catch fire while I'm using it.

I bought a Gigaset years ago (the original expandable one with the base answerer and corded handset) and it was a major POS. Crappy battery life and crappy range. Hello, what's a cordless phone supposed to do? I have a Nortel and a Panasonic and am very happy with both, although the 2.4 Panasonic kills off my 802.11b wireless network if they both happen to be on the same piece of spectrum at the same time.

I'm using Gigaset 3010 at my home office and am very happy with it. I'm using it with NiMH rechargeable batteries, the battery life is satisfying.

Alex

PS: No worry about the fire issue, fire extinguisher is included.

I looked at it and I decide to buy the Panasonic KX-TG2670N instead.
Yep 2.4 Ghz Siemens phones suck! Batteries are poor, but easily replaceable with other mfg's rechargables. But they are staticy even close to the base unit! Stay away!
Yeah, their phoes do suck. Paid nearly $800 for good set of them so that I coud string a bunch of phones without extra wiring. They have almost no range, the batteries die fast, and they're difficult to use for anyone who doesn't read the manual. Sure they look good, but what's the point of having a good peice of plastic that doesn't do anything else but sit pretty?

Total waste of $ IMO.

I now have a set of panasonics. Incredible range and battery life. Don't look as good, but hell, they work and that counts most.

One of my relatives has a set of Siemens cordless 2.4 gig phones and loves them. I've used his phones, no static at all. Very attractive design, but expensive. I decided to save some $ and got a Panasonic KX-TG2400B - absolutely the best phone I have ever owned. People on the other end of a call swear I'm on a high-quality corded phone. Amazing range, no static, it can handle being dropped without a problem, decent battery life, and it was $59 - what's not to like?

The reason I was considering it is because Amazon has the model with the answering machine for $99 after rebate plus I have a discount code for $20 off. For $79 I think it might be worth a try. I've had a Panasonic that's been great for about 4 years, but it is starting to act up plus I need an answering machine.

i think epinions.com has a lot of reviews on 2.4G phones.
I have the 2.4 Gigaset cordless with the answering machine. I have no problems at all. I have never experiwnced static and can go outside to my mailbox (about 100 feet) and have never experienced static even then.
