Hope someone can help me. Today I see smoke coming out from that big round tube. Not sure exactly what you call that part. If you stand in front of the car,. It's right under passenger side below the real left side. First I thought the engine gasket is leaking but, when I left the car running and saw the s
moke coming out from that area. I also notice some oil on the ground.
Does anyone know what that is?

It’s the Catalytic Converter but Oil Lines and Turbo are near / above.

Most likely Oil dripping and smoking, smell of burning oil vs. exhaust fumes is easy to distinguish.

Thanks for the reply. I am thinking probably the gasket is leaking oil badly. And when it drops oil to the catalytic converter, it burns. I see smoke coming out from the hood. Hope It won't catch fire.

Just got it fixed today. It is the valve cover gasket leaking oil.
But there is one weird sound still not fixed. When the car is idle with gear to Park mode, it has the "Gi Gi Gi" sound. When I gas the pedal or while driving , the sound is gone. Only when the car is idle.
The mechanic said the Cylinder Head Valve Cover building up pressure. And when he release the engine oil cap, I can hear the pressure released sound, and when he press the gas pedal , no "GI GI " sound.
He said I might need to change the whole engine valve cover.

Parts no is 11127570292. I see of aftermarkets with lower price. OEM so expensive.

I also notice this little valve cover on second pic. Am I able to just replace that instead of the whole valve cover.

Does anyone have any experience ? Not sure if I can turn that and take it out.
If that cylinder head valve cover can be replaced, that will save me lots of money.

Anyone ?

The second picture is what needs to be replaced. There is videos on Youtube explaining how to remove it. Be careful though because you can damage the valve cover if you mess it up.

Replacing just that piece doesn't seem to do the trick...

My "guess"??? Leaking valve cover gasket. Not uncommon.
Just had my valve cover gasket replaced last month because of smoke coming up from the rear of the engine.
