Software/Firmware Confusion

Hello all.
I just acquired a 2018 440i xdrive and have a few questions. My firmware version is R. My research indicates that I can get CarPlay to display full screen if I have the correct firmware version, which I’m not sure if I do. Also, my car does not have the “fold mirrors on lock” or the “turn off accessories with engine shutdown”. Can anyone provide some guidance on what I need to do if making these things available is even possible?

Thank you.

NBTevo_R supports fullscreen carplay, but requires automated ENET solution sold by many.
  • You would need to update IDrive software if you want to be able to code yourself with Bimmercode or E-sys.
I thought that software contained option for electronics and mirrors. But, if not, you would also need to update vehicle software to add. Though, coding could enable folding mirrors without IDrive option.

You will need an ENET either way. But, you could download Full Psdzdata and update car with E-sys if you have either programming PSU or jumper cables to maintain battery during software update.

But, if you go the paid route, you only need to buy once as you can re-apply if car gets software update.

Hello Guys, same confusion for me. Just buy a new BMW F31 2017. Trying to activate CarPlay in full screen, but my version ID5 is HB-006.007.032
Don't understand how it works to get the update to the latest version, BMW ask me 500€ to get the firmware/software upgrade, and 300€ to activate carplay lol.
I see that I can use ESYS and the ENET cable (that I already have). Thx in advance for your help
