Hello,
Used to INPA and DIS for my E-series BMW's I wanted to make a step further and set ISTA for F-series (my wife's and father's BMW's), planning to use it with a K+DCAN cable (the one with a switch) for diagnostic purpose

I downloaded ISTA 4.39.20 standalone provided here : https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/ista-4-39-2x-standalone-sdp-full-4-43-21-torrent.1411305/
Installed it on a fresh new W10 updated to 22H2, never connected to Internet
Installed all VcRedist, .NET Framework, Chrome as required by minimum requirements + BMW Tools and 4.43.21 PSDZData + FTDI usb drivers
Changed settings of cable to Com1, 961200 bps, latency 1, changed Ediabas.ini to STD:OBD, OBD.ini on Com1, made a copy of OBD.ini on C:\Windows too
On ISTA com settings is set to Ediabas

But still can't connect ISTA to a car (tried '20 F40 118i and '08 E90 M3), although INPA can connect to my E90 !
Tried with D-can.exe found on this forum, can't set the cable to 500kbit DCAN : error Timeout answer when switch is correct and timeout echo when switch is on pre-2007 cars

So when I try to connect ISTA to cars listed above, I have the ongoing backward process bar moving for like 20 sec then it disappears and nothing more (complete identification, identification without vehicle test and all switch positions have same effect) : I don't have the following menu
A weird thing is : when I enter both VIN's it tells me The VIN is not valid and/or not assigned

Would it be possible to have some help setting it up please ?
I don't really know what could I do more 😖

Regards

For F-Series, you need to use an ENET Cable, not K+DCAN Cable.

Launch ISTA, got to configuration and set it for EDIABAS.

Open Windows Explorer, find EDIABS.ini file in the ISTA EDIABAS folder, and open it in Notepad, and change the Interface = line based on cable used.

"INTERFACE =ENET" (ENET Cable)
"INTERFACE = STD:OBD" (K+DCAN Cable)
