Something wrong with FSC at the dealer

Hi,

I took the car (G31 530d) yesterday to the dealer for a recall, and they called me saying that HU was blocked. The car has a non-official FSC for the map updates and CarPlay, and I did not restore it to stock before bringing it in, as I assumed the update would just wipe the FSC and I'd have to patch it again.

I claimed the car back from the dealer as the option they were proposing was a new Headunit (+2.000 €) and Navigation and voice commands are not working (nav keeps stuck at "Loading"). If I patch the FSC I bought, everything seems to work.

I tried to use BimmerCode to see some light and I got the attached screenshots:

Any idea what that can be and how to fix it? Would flashing the stock FSC solve the problem?

Thanks

Can Program car with ISTA+ so long as it includes SDP or just flash Head Unit with E-Sys and PSdZData Full. PM sent.

My car (2017 320d) is currently with the dealer for a recall (egr) and they've contacted me to say that they seem to be unable to update the Head unit. They know the car has some coding and apple carplay has been installed. Told me that they have been in touch with BMW UK to seek advice and get a code from them that should enable the installation of the updated software. But so far no luck. Also told me worst case scenario car may require a new head unit.

I have read your replies and was wondering if such an extreme step is indeed necessary? Could I take my car back off them and get it sorted out myself using the methods you guys have described? I'm worried cause I got no car and work far away will have to take the Mrs 208 for next few days. My first post on BF btw 😄

You do not need a new Head Unit. PM sent.

Hi, I am in a similar situation.

I had Carplay installed via Feature installer and tried to update to ID6 by flashing all ECUs (overestimating my skills) to get FS Carplay. This caused the FLE44 ECU to stop communicating (fixed by dealer). The challenge is that navigation can't be accessed and by checking on BimmerCode I get the messages below.

Should I use the OEM repair pack with E-sys or do something else? Thanks!

The person who was advising me when I made the post can help.

As for my situation, I got the car back from BMW with the same greyed out nav icon & voice control doesn't work either. BMW have ordered me a new headunit from Germany and I am waiting for that to arrive so they can install it and finally carry out the recall. It seems to be very unusual for BMW to do that at their own cost so I think I lucked out.

Hi!
I am in a similar situation and would appreciate any help!
I recently discovered after getting the car back from BMW, where they loaded a software Update, that my Evo ID6 Nav doesn’t work anymore.
I had installed a 3rd party carplay patch before visiting BMW using Feature Installer and tried to restore the system now. Unfortunately that did not solve the Problem, the Nav still says „loading“ without any progress.
Can anyone help? I can reinstall the carplay patch via FI and everything works again. But I would like to reset the system to work without the 3rd party carplay patch.
In case that is Important: After installing the 3rd party carplay patch Patch a year ago I did a successful map update. So I guess the restored map FSC from Feature Installer didn‘t match the installed (newer) map any more. I tried to reinstall the old map data hoping to match with the restored FSC, but still no luck..

Can you help me please?

Thanks!

Ok, thats great, thank you!
Just to clarify:
After installing the 3rd party Carplay patch again everything (including the Satnav) works perfectly.
I just want to be able to reset the system to a non modified/stock BMW state for future BMW visits etc...
And by using the Feature Installer Restore option created when initially using the Carplay patch it won't do that...
Is this possible?

Yes, that is what I thought as well. The only problem is that I am not 100% sure which map version was installed in Jan 22 when I applied the patch (and the Backup of the OEM FSCs was initiated). Is there and way to read the old map version installed in Jan 22 from the OEM FSCs or somewhere in the car data?
I already tried installing the 2021-3 map manually, as I thought this is the one beeing installed that time.. No luck, stillnot working…
(The 2021-3 map data didn‘t have an FSC folder/file included, but did install without any Problem from USB Not asking for an FSC etc.. So I think it used the internal car FSC (which was OEM), which seemed to be correct for the map.)

Ok, I know that I used the 3rd Party carplay patch end of january 2022, so it should have Bern BMW map 2021-3.. But as I wrote: I did install that specific Version two days ago (the usb Update worked without any Problems or errors and didn‘t ask for a FSC etc at the End). But the SatNav still shows only „loading“… So either I messed up the versions (Don‘t think so) or something Else is Not Right….

Just in case we can‘t find a solution: what do BMW FSC repair kits do? Resetting everyhing to stock version? Would this be the Solution+ I can Update the map afterwards again (as I have still an active Connected Drive map update pack Running)? Or does this cause more Problems?

If you want to revert to OEM, then remove patch via Feature Installer Restore OEM, then install old map data for which your OEM factory issued map FSC Code is valid.

Hi, my F20 will go to the dealer on march 8th, my headunit is patched with HU-Tools and later with feature installer to enable Carplay and 2023 maps. Looking for guidance what to do before handing it in at the dealership so that they can do the EGR recall and i-step update etc. I believe I don't have a backup of the original FSC's.

I don't mind having to run the feature installer again after I get the car back to enable everything again, car has 315.000km+ and will not go to dealer again after this probably :p

Right, since the dealer will do an update I guess they will also flash the Head Unit? Shall I then beforehand apply an OEM fsc pack and downgrade the map to a version that came with my car?
They will attempt to flash head Unit, but ISTA will flag Head Unit as HU-H Software manipulation, and target Head Unit for non-warranty replacement. So patch must be removed, OEM FSC Code loaded, and optionally downgrade map (will show activation coded needed without downgrade, but not an issue for Dealer ISTA).
