Hey all,

I've got an 09 328i (without Logic 7 audio) thats developed an extremely annoying issue. Whenever I hit a hard bump, my rear drivers side speaker will start to crackle constantly (even without radio/car on) until I hit another hard bump and it would stop.

Thinking it was a bad speaker, I disconnected that one and lo and behold its moved up to the front drivers side (in the door panel). I've searched the forums and they've all said check the amp for water. Its been pouring here for the last week and the compartment is dry (even a little dusty :dunno: ) and the connector is fine. I read somewhere that it could be the MOST bus cable...is that connected to the head unit?

Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If you have an 09 with Hi Fi

If you have an 09 with Hi Fi (amp is all analog connected)
The most cable will have nothing to do with
a single speaker failure. It could cause the sound to cut out on
all speakers if you have a bad TCU or Mulf modules.
If you have a one speaker or one channel problem its likely
to be either the speaker , speaker connection or an individual amp channel.
You could try re seating the amp connector in the trunk by just throwing
the lever pushing on the connector and putting the lever back to make sure its secure.

This might be a good excuse to get an aftermarket amp and a Technic Harness.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I think you missed the second paragraph of my post. It's not just one speaker, it was in the back and has now transferred to the front since I've disconnected the rear speaker.

Could be the Head Unit to there were some bad pro radio units
in certain years.
You didn't say if it was idrive or pro radio I believe.

It's a pro radio w/o Logic. Are OEM amps readily available? Or what's the proccess to switch to aftermarket?

You can get the Hi Fi used on ebay

You can get the Hi Fi amp used on ebay
Standard replacement for Hi Fi amp is a JL 600/6 with a Technic Harness.
It basically plugs into the amplifier plug.
