Speaking of HK ....

My HK buzz is back(had it fixed once, back in Novemeber). Its the front, drivers side door panel speaker, even buzz's on the AM channel talk radio voices now! 3500 miles to go before my 15k check up, so I figured I'd wait to have it fixed then, and while they're at it, replace the door seals too.

That's why I just got the stock radio instead of the HK. Are your door seals bad? I know there are new ones out but mine are great and as long as they are I'm not going to mes with 'em. I give 'em a coat of Rubber and Vinyl dressing every other week and they are perfect.

I have that exact problem. I had read that there was a TSB for it and asked my dealer about it when the car was in for service but they claimed that the TSB (where they replace the HK amp and the bad speakers) only applies to convertibles.
The "known" door seal problem has nothing to do with drying out or in need of Lubs. The known problem was factory installation, they were just pressed onto the car, not glued in any way. So in time, after slamming the door a few times, it works out of place. Which also means the door is getting harder to shut. When you roll the glass down and watch the door shut you can very well see the problem. The rubber seal worked out just enough for the actual door its self is SMASHING the rubber in towards the car. So do this about 20 or more times.. and you have a mess and a tear and a nasty little rubber. You also have an eyesore now. Thank GOD I got mine replaced. BMW finally sent a fix and after the 3rd one, mine is still intact!

Yes 31st, that also is a lie. Mine was fixed, BMW sent an actual BMW rep to fix mine, new amp, two speakers replaced, felt, foam, rubber washer's etc and its fixed! :thumb: ( NOT CONV. Ci )

Yes, the dealer didn't have an actual fix yet first times. They were installing them the same way the factory installed them, which meant same problem. When BMW had 1000's ripped and torn to shreds, they called me and said to bring my car in, we have a fix now! :thumb:

I didn't have a choice! HK was stock with the 330Ci. ;)

thanks. I don't get this dealer lying crap. they told me that my car already had the updated control arm bushing and that the HK fix didn't apply to my car.

Hmmm, that don't surprise me.. I even called BMWNA and ask them about the HK before they told me.. first time the guy was like, "I am sorry, I will report to upper management, not heard of this at this time". Once twice speakers started buzzing, my service management said..HEY guess what, today we were told some good news for you. BMW is issuing a fix for the HK, new amp and speakers. Funny thing is, I called BMWNA again, and that time they said they just heard about it, since I was unhappy with the HK, they sent a BMW rep to fix it instead of the dealer :dunno:
What was the problem/fix for the convertibles? Do you have a TSB number? I had only heard about HK problems in the sedans (mostly from the rear shelf). If there is a new and better system available at no cost...I want to get it!
I don't know what the TSB number is for the buzzing speakers/amp replacement. the package tray rattling does not affect sedans to my knowledge. it affects the coupes where the sub enclusore is one big enclosure for two 6x9 subs. the sedans have the subs seperated. anyway, this is the most widely known HK problem and there's a separate TSB for this one.

Yep, coupe problem :bawling:

Yeah, There is a TSB for it, but it only lasts so long. I had mine fixed with velcro twice and it is still there. Unless, my dealer lied to me.

So far with the velvet strips everywhere, foam, padding, and rubber washers mine is still fixed.....its been months now, I don't see mine coming back... 31st, try another dealer, someone can do it! :) good luck
Hey how did they finally fix your rattle? Did you see my post on the main board a couple of days ago? I really would like your input.

Advice needed

Thanks,

Are you sure its actually coming from one of the speakers? I had (and it is back) a buzz from the passenger door. They replaced both mid and woofers but problem was still there. On second trip in they locked it down to a plastic buzz/rattle. They tightened up the panel and what ever else they could.:)

But after 2 months it's back:mad: After service manager called me back (see flame board), we talked and he is now going to order a variety of door parts (don't know which ones) bring my car in and take panel off and replace any ratling parts:thumb:

Again, it may be your speaker but I would definately ask them to check the door components as well. Whaat worked great for locking in on the pieces was running their audio test CD (runs through entire frequency band) this really focused the problem.

Good luck and I'll post follow up once they get my parts:D

PM, you are exactly right! I left that part out.. most of my buzzzzzzzz was the door panel itself. He removed the panel and put felt around all parts that touched metal. Then in every space that was open they put this foam stuff, so when the panel was put back on, the foam made it tighter. Still no rattles after this! BTW, they did both doors for me! :thumb:
Coupe Door Seals

I really need to call my service advisor and check on the status of my back-ordered door seals. I took it in in Late October and it took them 2 days to figure out that the seals were back-ordered. They ended up not fixing (seal split). I stuck a piece of clear packing tape along the seal to hold it down. Its held up for 6 months now.

But I've started to notice the passenger door seal has a small rub that is starting to tear. I need to have my 1-year oil change done in about a month, so I guess I'll call and have them get the seals there for when I take the car in!
