Good morning folks,
We have a 2016 5 series that will be going off lease in April and I have been trying to find out what I can about the upcoming LCI revisions to the 2020's. I would not mind waiting for a few months if the changes were significant whether they be cosmetic or I-drive. I really can't even get an answer from my salesperson as to when the 2020 would be available for order. I certainly think the G30 looks great and am looking forward to getting one whether it is a 19 or 20. I am just curious as what you may think is coming.

I have just seen a leaked photo of the 7 series LCI which is heavily based on the vision future luxury concept (the lights are Justin not as slim). Based on this I would say that the LCI on the G30 would also be not as subtle as it has been with prior generations.
Interior wise, it would definitely get the ID7 and new cluster. I don't know if there will be significant change to the layout, but that is a possibility.
The G30 is an amazing and handsome car, however it is now a generation behind the current design language seen in the new 8/3/x5/x7/z4
The leaked 7 front end design seems like half a step beyond what we have seen with the x7 and 8. Pretty significant change to the current 7.

I'm curious too. Haven't used ID7 but I have reservations about its look, and the reverse tach. The more I look at the G20, on paper, the less I like. And I consider the M340 a steroidal design abomination! I hope BMW has kept the 5 and 7 Series dignified and elegant. And offer some more vibrant colors for the LCI.

Since we are speculating...

The G30 was released originally as a 2017 model. IF (big IF) BMW follows its normal refresh cycle, that would be as a 2021 model (after 4 years), not as a 2020.

If you want to read more about upcoming models from a post (on another site) that is from a poster that seems to have inside information, look here:

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1548987&highlight=ynguldyn+2021

Specific to the G30 on that post is the following line:

G30 5er - 10/23 (LCI SOP 07/20)

So, I dont think you have anything to "consider" regarding the LCI and your upcoming lease return, because the LCI will almost assuredly be starting production 7/20, and available for you to purchase 08/20 as a 21 model.

Agreed...

Pretty soon the grills of a BMW will consume the entire front end! Will it never end?
That looks like it will take some getting used to!

I suspect the upcoming G30 as 2020 year models will include some shuffling of options and option packages and minor trim changes. Maybe Android Auto will appear this time - long overdue.

And some we never get used to, we just run out of choices. I hate the Lexus grills but my wife’s vehicle is a GX 460 with a version of the grill I don’t like.

Yea, looks like BMW is stealing design cues from Lexus. I detest that ugly-ass Darth Vader look.

The LCI is timed to coincide with a three year lease, more or less. Gotta give those leasers something to be excited for. Myself included.

I'm hoping that they implement the new instrument cluster. The newest iDrive version is a given.
