Happened to me too, out in the Desert, I was doing at least 100 in a 55 zone which also was a construction zone and thus double fine zone... $750 plus points...:thumbdwn: paid deerly for that one cause I went back to the Netherlands and received a letter of revocation of my license (dutch license...). Good luck and just be honest and forthcoming to the judge...

Get familiar with those little buttons under your right thumb! Cruise control keeps my speed sane when I'm droning along on the freeway.

Actually this happened to me me years ago with my parent's car. Not paying attention to the speedo, I was just crusing based on sound and feel.

Went to court. I ended up with half points and fine. I would have gotten off, except I still had a speeding ticket on my record.

Try it, explain that the car is so smooth and quiet it didn't sound or feel like you were even going the speed limit. Heck, worst case you pay the court costs in addition. Best case you walk. Anythign in between is still a win.

Here's a question for any and all. Where do you take the poor thing out for a "run"? It's been whining, really. I'll check other groups, if anyone has a pointer, let me know.

How about, it's a new car to me, the speedometer must be inaacurate. I get it checked and adjusted at AAA ASAP.

Autocross, not so fast, but definately loads of fun.

Went to the courthouse. The clerk new exactly what I was talking about. Her sister just got a 330 and she took it for a drive. Didn't realize she was doing 85 in a 40 until she looked down. She gave me a break. :thumbup:

I have realized a lot about this horse recently. So I don't repeat myself, check the "curves" thread.

I know exactly what you're talking about too. It didn't seem to be a problem in my previous 525, but I bought this car in LA and on the drive home to OC, I was cruising along the 5 when I suddenly noticed all the other cars seemed to be going really slow, looked down and saw I was going about 95. :yikes: Since I know there are additional penalties if you're going more than 20 mph over the speed limit, as soon as I got home I set the computer thing so the bell goes off whenever I reach 85 mph. Damn thing is still going off all the time, but at least I'm aware of how fast I'm going now so I can slow down. As suggested above, I also use the cruise control much more than I ever did before and found that helps. Good luck!

I sorta have a similar problem, feeling the urgency to drive faster, constantly reminding myself to look down at the g-d speedo. So far, no tickets... :eeps: [knock wood]

Now, I'm not advocating speeding, but there is smart speeding and dumb speeding. Dumb speeding includes:

• when there is more than light traffic and not enough spacing for braking and safe lane changes
• when no other cars are in front of you to show the safe speed based on conditions and the presence of cops
• when it's at night and you can't look out for cops as well as in day (in addition to road hazards)
• weaving and cutting lane changes close to other cars
• passing cars in adjacent lanes, which highlights your speed difference
• speeding in the fast lane when not passing
• speeding past on-ramps, especially those that follow an overpass (cop entry points)
• speeding around blind turns or near a break in the median (motorcycle cops)
• sustained speeding significantly higher than the flow of traffic (obviously dumb)

Under good conditions (meaning not dumb speeding), I usually cruise around 80, with occasional sprints above that. I really need to stop though. Getting too confident. :tsk:

Last night, coming home late, I really didn't want to get nabbed on Memorial Day weekend, so kept it at 67-70. Within five minutes of getting on the the mostly empty highway, a couple cars passed and then shortly after, I saw someone get lit up behind me.

Anyway, enjoy the car, but be vigilant. :thumbup:
