Hello All,
I recently purchases a used 2004 X3 with about 50K miles on it.
In the mornings when it is very cold, it start fine.
After leaving it sit for about 1 hr after reaching normal operating temperature, the next time you start it, it takes a long time to start. You have to crank it for about 20 seconds, or do it in two 10 secdond spurts.
I have had a dealer look at it. They found a fault code for the mass flow meter...$600 for a new one. I decidd to replace it with with a used one...$200
Question: do I need to have the fault codes re-set by the dealer, or does it re-set itself?
If it turns out not to be the mass air flow meter, any thoughts on what could be causing this problem?
Sincerely,
Stephan
