Hi all,

I removed the steering wheel airbag to install a new wheel trim cover. After I removed the airbag I heard a rattling. I looked behind the steering wheel and I saw a yellowish 'thing'.
The sound was coming from that part. It was like in the yellow part there were a lot of small metal parts moving.

Can someone explain me what this means? Thanks in advance.

Best i know...it can be dangerous working with the airbags *Use Caution! *Disconnect the car's battery before working with the unit
*handle carefully at all times

Yes I always disconnect the battery and wait about 10 minutes before I work with the airbag. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply, but do you maybe know what the rattling sound is about?
Personally, I would CAREFULLY remove the igniter and see what's on the other side. I have successfully transplanted my 2-stage airbag into a single-stage steering wheel I got from Lithuania. There's a thread on what I did somewhere; here or the other site.

Now for the disclaimer(s)…
I'm not responsible for ANYTHING that may go wrong if you attempt any airbag work.
