I've got an E46 325Ci Sport which was registered new in May 2003. Its the final facelifted model. There is a small but pronounced level of play in the steering which I'm struggling to get to the bottom of. I've had the control arms and bushing replaced recently but that made no difference and BMW have just done a visual inspection and can't see anything wrong. They say that they will need to spend quite a bit of time [and my money] investigating by taking the the underside of the dashboard out etc... to see if they can find out what's wrong [if anything]. I've had the car since brand new and its only got 20K miles on the clock. Anyone got any idea of what it may be ?

Thanks Kris,

Did you mean here ? I tried getting onto that forum earlier but it was down... it seems to be back up again now which is good.

What the dealer told me is that the rubber coupling is on the older model [i.e. pre-facelifted E46], but the newer one has a nylon coupling.

Yeah, that's what I meant... I don't know.
