Hmm
I don't think mine has the sticky problem, but there is definately hesitation. I guess I'm still getting used to the 'drive by wire' system. Sometimes when it doesn't respond right away I over-compensate and give it more fuel by habit and all the sudden it takes off, twice as fast as I intended.

Do they have anything to fix that? :D

Seems BMW is confused again...

I sent a message to the owners circle on this subject as soon as I read this post...reply was:

I'm with BMW of North America, LLC and your Owners' Circle posting was forwarded to me for response. Presently, BMW has not developed a retro fit kit for the issue you are referring to.

Thank you for contacting BMW.

Sincerely,

Damn I totally forgot to post this here! My bad ya'll.

I posted this to the bmw-sticky-pedal Yahoo group. mkg, Karen is most definitely of the un-informed persuasion over there at BMWCS.

No new part numbers have been released yet, I did however just get another call from Bill Stuart. Here's the current situation:

Right now Bill is calling all the customers on his list and informing them of the very details I'm about to tell you. =)

1) early next week a group of folks at BMWNA will be contacting all the customers on the list to get a final round-up of dealerships at which said customers will have the pedals replaced. This will allow them to expedite the pedal assembly delivery to that dealership specifically, rather than doing a nationwide inventory update which I imagine takes a good deal of time. They will also be confirming the customers' transmission types (auto or manual) to ensure the correct new pedal assembly is ordered.

2) these same folks will call your preferred service center and line them up to receive the pedal AND make a pre-appointment for your installation. They will be informing the dealerships to call the customers as soon as the pedals have arrived. This may or may not be a smooth transaction as we all know how things tend to slip through the cracks at dealerships. =)

3) dealerships will be calling customers to provide them with an appointment to update their pedal assemblies once the pedals have arrived at the dealership.

Does this sound familiar? Bill told me it was basically the same procedure they used for the steering retrofit. Makes sense! I for one am happy to see that we've made this kind of progress and I hope the new pedal assembly IS what we hope it will be (that is, normal).

Note: do not call your dealership to line up a pedal replacement; they will either have NO idea what you're talking about or they'll order you the wrong old part, or BOTH if you're really unlucky. =P

I got the call on 6/20 around 2pm EST. He says he calls me first so I can relay the info to the group, but I doubt that's really the case. I ain't that special. :D

They had no clue

I just called BMWNA 800 # and the guy who helped me had no clue what I was talking about. He took down my name and number and said they would call if they found anything out. Yeah.......sure.

:banghead:

Now what?

I spoke to Bill this morning. He confirmed that the replacement pedals are now in house. Folks from his office will be going through Bill's call list to gather the following information -

- model#
- transmission type (steptronic or manual)
- choice of BMW Center (dealership) where service will be performed

If they do not have all of the above info for your car, someone from Bill's office (college interns I think) will call you within the next few days.

If Bill's office already has the pertinent info for your car, they will fax your preferred BMW Center to give them the part number and instructions for ordering the replacements. The BMW Center will then call you to set up a service appointment.

Bill is the MAN

All I have to say is Bill is the man. I worked with him on the Steering Retrofit, and he hooked me up again. Took down my info, was very nice about it, and said I could expect a call in a week from my dealer.

THANKS BILL!!!

Yeah Bill is great--one of the few people at BMWNA who seems to want to be helpful and actually gets things done. Hopefully he won't be so inundated w/ steering retrofit and sticky pedal requests that he just gives up!
