Hello All,

I am new to these forums so hopefully I'm posting things in the right place and abiding by the house rules... apologize if not!

I have a 2004 530i and the master control knob (the one that rotates 360 degrees and can be depressed to control the main display) appears to have a bad connection or something. It still registers angular motion, but it no longer registers button clicks. Some months ago it was working, then it needed to be pressed a little harder to function, now it doesn't work at all. I'm wondering if the button contacts have gotten corroded or something.

Is the button serviceable? I've popped off the top but can't find out how to probe any deeper without damaging the car. I don't want to pay the dealership to clean some contacts if i can get at them myself.... any help would be appreciated! thanks!

hey is your car a manual or automatic?
because if it is a manual then i can tell you exactly how to get to the underside to view the connection.
