I'm probably wrong . . .

but I'm not aware of anyone serious about cars (racing teams, etc.) using a 'permanent' or 'never change' type of oil product.

Yeah, Jon. The music was almost enough to leave the site right away.

And no, the "never change" oil wasn't the attraction -- although the $40 per liter price does make BMW's 10w60 syn oil sound cheap. They do have a good reputation for solving odd machine lube problems (in movie camera and related gearing).

My interest was in the filtration or the magnetic collectors -- or if that is all just overkill or hocus pocus.

I think using magnetic drain plugs is not uncommon. Can probably find them from a lot of aftermarket sources. :)

Magnetic drain plugs are even used in aerospace... but engineers like to think of fancy names for things, so they call them "chip detectors."
