Hey there folks. I recently purchased a z4 2.5i. The a.c. unit is not working, I was told this occured when the car had its battery replaced. I did some research and I have some to the conclusion that the car is in transport mode. The previous owner also stated that she has the a.c. checked out and it was flawless (hardware wise).

My question is: how would I go about taking the car out of transport mode. I have a obdII cable and have downloaded inpa, however despite the many guides, ive been unable to get it working. Basically I've downloaded inpa, I can open it, however the black dots are not appearing for ignition ect.

Thanks in advanced. I would not have come here if I didn't do all the research I could, but I'm running out of threads that relate to my problem unfortunatley.

I guess a more accurate way of putting this is that I need help understanding how to setup and use inpa (on windows 10). Ive found plenty of guides on other platforms but sadly none of them work for win 10.

I'm sure once inpa is set up I can manage the rest but i'm really confused about how inpa works ect. sorry for the noobyness.

Changing battery will not necessarily cause transport mode but a weak or draining battery prior to the swap out could. Definitely appears to be transport mode. I had to have dealer clear the code - $130 but they also programmed alarm system.

At the moment, this really isn't an option unless it is THE ONLY way. I've read a few places that I can disable/delete transport mode with ncsexpert however I haven't even attempted to get into that yet. Right now it would be ideal if I could get inpa working as there are other things I would like to check up on.

I cant seem to connect to the car. This is the cable im using.

plug the obd into my car, the usb into my laptop, open inpa and no luck.

Here is what inpa shows for me - http://imgur.com/wX1RNVm

Pressing e85 achieves nothing as I receive an error - I read somewhere that you may need to edit a text document to change it to your cable, but also heard others say its automatic now. where would that text file be?

This link may help...I know you might have to edit the inpa.ini file to the correct com port (USB).

Hope this helps, and let us know if this is correct.

Followed the guide completely. Still no black dots in inpa. I'm going to check fuses tommorrow maybe that has something to do with it.

I have same problem

I am in Transport mode too. I wish there was an easier solution. I have bought cables and DVDs and nothing seems to work. 2004 Z4

If you don't have any luck with the cable, this one is pretty much guaranteed to work.

Yes it's probably expensive, but you won't spend hours wondering if there's a cable problem. You'll need the inline adaptor as well, for this to work.
I have this cable and it works perfectly with INPA, NCS and Carly. Admittedly on a Windows XP laptop, Win 10 untested for me (yet).

@WacoIII - there is a very easy solution - you take it to a dealer or good indy and they'll take it out of transport mode for you. I'm guessing you mean an easier cheap or free solution? :D

Pulling battery won't trip it but if you have a weak battery that is not tended too timely or if battery allowed to drain significantly between drives (weekend driver), it could cause transport mode.

I have a 2004 Z4 that went into transport mode. Lost use of air con,fan and rear window defrost. I would like to purchase a scan tool to shut off or delete transport functions. Paid the $150 the dealer charged to do this. Also diagnose air bag module. Thanks for any help.
