With more of us getting active in AutoX and doing track days I thought I'd start a dedicated thread to collect the related posts. If this is a good idea it will support itself, if it's a bad idea it will die a natural death.......

This insanity is one of the SCCA instructors from our region running his shifter kart at F.I.R.M. This is from an earlier session and not last Sunday, but it still give you an idea of the speed.

Me too! What is it we do here exactly? Post track/auto-x pics and vids and talk about our feelings and open up to each other?

If you aren't already addicted you aren't alive.....

I heard your passenger comment that you were "behind" in the slalom. One of our instructors diagrammed this for me last year (stick drawing in the sand at the time) and it makes a huge difference once you get it dialed in.

:yikes: That shifter kart run was wild!

I think I should just sell my E36 and get a kart, because that looks like way more fun...

Supposedly you can get set up with a used shifter kart for about $5K. Considering there's nothing you can do to an E36 for $5K (or $500K) that will make it anywhere near as quick, it's not a bad deal.....

From talking to Chuck, the instructor in the video, having a cone bounce off your head after you've clipped it at 80 mph is a disadvantage.

If you got the cash I would love to take that challenge.

The next event for myself should be september 22nd. Hopefully I can get a mount for my cell phone or a go pro camera by then!

My next event probably wont be until next year. :(

School just started and the car needs a little work. Brakes, tires etc.

Plus the last Thunderhill weekend already passed. So I HAVE to wait until next year anyway.

It would be a waste of your time and my money.

You have to see in person how much faster the shifter karts are than ANYTHING else that runs autocross and then my earlier statement will make perfect sense.:)

This. There was a 10 year old kit in a single speed kart that was almost as fast as my E36 at the last autocross.

CFR SCCA is what I usually do. We're at Brookesville this Sunday. I see you're in Tampa......are you entered for Brookesville?

I think you are missing the point. I would get to dump 500k on my dream e36 build. Beating the cart would be irrelevant at that point.

Randy the CCA is doing T-hill in November. I'll let you know when signups start. Now that you're a member (think of the benefits!) you will have access. It's expensive, but you get an instructor all day. I'm hoping to have a job and take Remi's car.
