Today, coming out of the grocery store, I saw a car that caught my eye across the parking lot. I drove over to look at it and what to my wundering eyes did appear but an E28 M5 with a temporary registration sticker in the back window, meaning it was just purchased. A very very nice automobile, and certainly a rarity in Missoula, MT. I need to find this guy and at least look under his hood.

Has anyone ever owened on of these?

I've owned the 535 and 528 models of the e28, but haven't ever even seen the m5 in person. Would like to some day though, they are getting more rare as the years tick by...

The E28 M5 was essentially a 4-door race car, offering no apologies. It got its engine from the M1.

BTW, someone in the 'hood has both an E28 M5 and a round-taillight 2002tii parked in the driveway, both in need of cosmetic work.

My favorite 5. There were 2 for sale around me in SoCal a few months ago. The other is still available. Almost 200k on the engine and the dealer is asking 16,900.
