2013 f02 with 13k miles on the engine that’s 2 years old now.

Trying to diagnose the issue before throwing parts at it.

Threw the thermostat code, and when I got back in town a week later it was in limp mode and the fans were at full blast with more codes just when the ignition on.

Chipmunks chewed the wires to the thermostat, which I fixed and I replaced the coolant sensor. Still getting the code for the thermostat but it drives normal at least.

I plugged in a new thermostat from autozone, uninstalled and it went back into limp mode with all the codes again without even cranking the car. Tried it with the housing grounded and not grounded.

I’ll get a thermostat from fcp to try this method again to see if the thermostat is faulty, but is there anything else it could be? Some research points to the transmission thermostat being a potential culprit.
Thanks

Have you checked resistance of the wires all the way to the DME? Use the wiring diagram in ISTA to find the pin on connector. Since you found rodent damage in at least one place, there could be more.

You still have a wiring problem.

There is an open or short in one of the following....

Harness to the sensor at the lower radiator hose.

Harness to the MAP thermostat.

Harness to the temperature sensor on the water pump.

I’m thinking it’s wires to the map thermostat. The wires I fixed were to the temp sensor, I was mistaken in the original post.
I haven’t checked for continuity in those wires yet, and it’s tough to see in there.
Thank you
