They race sedans - don't they?

I'm the proud owner of a new E90, and I love it. I've notice that most posts talk about the performance edge of the coupe, but when they prep a car for race trim it's always a sedan. Is the sedan body is stiffer?

The sedan chassis was significantly stiffer through the E46 generation. BMW is claiming, however, that the coupe has a slight edge this time around. Of course, they also claim that the coupe is measureably faster, which is absurd given that the weight difference between the two basically equates to two or three gallons of gas.

Regardless, the sedan will likely continue to be the race platform of choice. They're a bit cheaper and more practical to strip down and they have more interior clearance for structural reinforcement/roll cages.

Good info. Better sig :).

I've been looking at E36 M3's and someone mentioned to me that the sedan was a lot stiffer. It's great to hear a second unrelated confirmation.
