I thought there would be more excitement with the introduction of this new machine. Are Z4 followers posting elsewhere? :dunno:

:lmao: TD does have point, though. I'm not sure how many Z4 owners there are out there yet. I saw a post on Toadfly that Long Beach BMW had 18 Z4s on the lot. Maybe not a good economy to introduce new cars of any type :dunno:

Plenty of Z4-ers around; I think it's more an issue of this being a wet and un-convertible-friendly time of year. People aren't driving as much and aren't as excited about it.

My friend calls it 'feeling couped up.'

with all the hours I spend on the SoCal freeways each week, I would have seen at least one on the road, but as of today I have yet to see even one on the road.

I saw one here in Toledo about two or three weeks ago parked at the grocery store (temporary paper license "plate").

When Sue & I were in Florida a week ago, we saw at least two, maybe three diving around (ALL had their tops up!).

There are a bunch on the lot at the dealer here too, maybe nine or ten cars...
For whatever reason (and it pi$$e$ them off too) they always get a truckload of Z3s (and now Z4s) just before winter. They usually put most of them in storage and bring them out in the spring.

I guess it would. Model Year production starts in late summer/fall? For roadsters, that gets them ready just in time for 'ol man winter.

Us Z4 people were here... but to be honest, we are taking such a beating on all message boards by people who don't like the styling, It's not worth posting about.

I mean, why should I read message boards that just tell me how poorly the car I like is selling, how awful it looks, and how much better the competition is doing?

In my area, the car is selling great, I love the looks, and i turned down the competition for my own reasons.

So, I'm waiting quietly for my Sterling Gray Z4 3.0 6speed. Maybe I'll be back when the trolls leave.

I know the roadfly Z3 board has been pretty much a Z4 basher, I don't see much Z4 posting at all on B'forums, but I don't think all of the Z4 threads here have been negative.

Sue & I both like the Z4.
The deciding factor was seeing one in the employee parking lot when we went to Homecoming this year.
I had kept an open mind after being turned off by the pictures that were published of the new 7 Series and then discovering that I actually liked it when I saw one in the "flesh".

We both drove a 3.0 auto and then I drove a 2.5/5sp.
We were both impressed with the entire package!
The only thing holding us back is:
1.) we're not exactly needing a new car just yet
2.) hoping that an ///M version will follow in a year or two

I give you my word that I won't knock anything you post about your new car (secretly jealous)

Hah! THEY didn't like my car either. thoses fools. The Z4 IS a BMW, thats all that counts. It must be fantastic to drive. You are driving a car like no other enjoy it. And we all are waiting when you post us about how you are taking it appart to see how ist made. Not to mention what Z4 parts will fit our cars. By the way my M coupe is the best car I ever owned and despite what the critics said everyone who sees it is floored by its looks!

Well, okay, since you asked.

Currently slated for week 52 production:

Sterling Grey Z4 3.0 6 speed
With black roof/interior

Sport package
Zenon Headlights
Power top
And Heated Seats.

This will be my daily driver, replacing a Jeep Wrangler...
which doesn't seem like a good idea after the snow we got here (outside of Philly) yesterday.

Others considered: Nissan 350z, Audi TT, Ford T-Bird.
The Nissan might have been nice. It has less luggage room than the Z4, and the interior felt cheap... I never found out how it drove, because the Nissan dealer wouldn't let me behind the wheel without filling out a credit report, and a statement that I wanted to buy that floor model (with $5,000 "market adjustment"). I laughed as I walked out the door. I mean, I had been talking to this guy for week, it wasn't like I'm a schmuck that just came in off the street.

The Audi TT was a serious consideration. I like the Z4 style better,but the TT had the huge advantage of quattro (remember, daily driver). But again, it's trunk can't hold my luggage, and since I travel alot this is a problem. Also, I'm not fond of the turbo charged engine, I'll take the 3.0 any day. Sure, they announced they were sticking a 6 into it, but I don't want to wait that long. Also, the z4 still wins in interior room.

The T-Bird? Looks pretty but I can't justify a $40k Ford. Dealers in my area are still trying to mark up it's price, but I think I could negotiate that away. It was a soft drive, not nearly as fun as the Z4.

So, that is my experience.

Have you thought about keeping the Wrangler, or maybe getting a beater for this snowy weather? It would be quite nice to keep your 45K car out of the elements :dunno:

That thought has be on my mind a lot lately.
The problem is the dealer is offering me over $8k for a 5 year old with $78k miles... That is really helping out in bringing the payments inline.

I'm hoping to be able to survive a winter or two, then pick up a beater.

funny that you went from a wrangler to the z4...i went wrangler to m coupe...talk about a difference in handling!! i managed to get $13K for my 97 sport back in march :yikes: i still cant believe someone paid that much for it...

i ended up getting a grand cherokee for my daily driving duties even tho we dont have any snow here in sunny (except for today) california

I ran into a Z4.. it looked identical to the one in the Z4 movies.. i pulled up right beside him.. and wanted him to go... a lil bit of taunting.. and he went once.. for a short while.. the Z4 is no match for the S54 roadster.. he literally gave up b4 i was out of 2nd gear..

LOL no - the S54 roadster is 3.2L, M-ed up. The 3.0 Z3 is no match for the M roadster in a line, either!

I finally saw a Z4 'in the wild'. Unfortunately going the other way on the freeway, but the Sterling gray/black top roadster was easy to spot.
