Hey all, new here...

I've decided to upgrade the stereo in my car (96 328i). it's got the stock bose and head unit, the base and treble aren't bad, but i find songs with more midrange (like my oasis cd's  ) sound most certainly lackluster. I've heard that the headunit in my model is responsible for the problem, not so much the speakers, but does anybody know? i won't replace everything if i don't need to... anyways, i'm lookin to spend 1500 max, so any suggestions?

thanks,
Ryan

1500 max is enough. You dont need to change out your headunit if you dont want. You best bet is to get aftermarket speakers, and get an amp to power them and leave your stock HU. Now for 1500 you can pick up a pair of Focal Utopia 165w3 ($800) and slap those babies in. And buy any kind of amp that will power them. :)
