Found a nail in my from tire the other day right before a short trip. Went to my local indy shop to pull it out and fix, and they put in what looks like a piece of coated/impregnated rope/cord. It stays in there via an interference fit. Drove from Milw. to Chicago and back with no problems. My question is, how good a fix is that compared to what I have had done in the past, which is taking the tire off the rim, and putting in a "T" shaped plug that is glued/vulcanized to the inner part of the tire?

The "T"-type plug is more secure, but I still don`t have faith in any plug for long-term, high speed driving....plugged tires are relegated to spare tire duty ASAP.

Bob
