I wonder what :asshole: ordered that Ban?? I like them, if they happen to have a passion for cars with power then so let it be. If they find a car Gutless in their test then they should be able to express their opinions. I like them becasue they test their cars on circuits or tracks and give good reviews about them and because they test them on circuits and tracks they have a passion for sports cars, ntohing wrong with that :) I don't think they should be banned beause of their personal preference.

So it's OK to broadcast porn after midnight, but it's not OK to show a fat english man having fun in some pretty awesome cars..... What the hell is this world coming to. :dunno:

Another reason the government shouldn't be involved in television.

What a bunch of crap!

The stuff they mentioned as "sins" were just some signs of poor judgement by the producers, but often are pretty entertaining and/or provide some valuable information. There are far more programs on British TV which would have some equally or more socially disturbing behavior being demonstrated.

When I watched the programs while living there, all of the truly "dangerous" high speed driving was always done on the track.

The Brits are such fanatics about thier cars (more than Americans? :dunno: ) I doubt BBC2 could suffer the public outcry for long. Of course it is government owned and they probably just don't care

Clarkson is a Yob, the show is rubbish since Tiff and Quentin Wilson left. 5th Gear (channel 5) is much, much better...

Michael Palin's a brilliant guy, but I'm afraid he may wrong on this one, or maybe not, I've only ever seen one episode of this show so can't comment on its content.

However, the installment I saw, in which the host proceeds to try and destroy an old Toyota pickup truck by dropping things on it, drowning it and finally placing it on top of a skyscraper about to be demolished (it still ran), was quite entertaining. :)

There is something about Tiff I don't like. The rest of the Fith Gear cast are pretty good.

Clarkson I love...both on TV and his print columns. They have me howling with laughter 80% of the time...even if I disagree with him.

You would have liked the episode where they jump a double decker bus over a row of motorcycles. Even better was when they tried to break the world speed record for towing a trailer by putting an old camper trailer (dishes and all) behind a race prepped Mitsu Evo. The trailer imploded and the siding was sucked off at something around 120mph. They didn't break the record :(

I believe that is because what you saw over there was actually BBC2 right? Did you have access to all four BBC channels? I know our hotel with satelite in Portugal did.

Here I believe we get "BBC Americas" which has different programming than the homeland.

I do alot of international travel, and most of the time the BBC and CNN are the only 2 channels I can understand, so I watch alot of BBC. Sometimes I even get to catch Top Gear on a Sunday night overseas. I too wish we could get the full blown BBC channel lineups here in the US. Top Gear being the main reason, but the other would be for the pure entertainment value of listening to the Brits constantly slam the US in the news! I think that last part is why we don't get all the BBC coverage here. :dunno:

The Brits are great at this, I was watching "fifth gear" on Speed one day and they were reviewing a Hummer, the bemusement expressed over why americans would buy such a thing was classic Brit....

I had 2 channels of BBC, so it was one or the other. I'm just wishing they would have 'top gear' over here on BBC America or whatever they call it.

actually i was in the netherlands and they had tons of american tv shows on lots of channels (with dutch subtitles) so i got to watch american shows i've never seen before (i don't watch tv when i'm home) so the english program selection was quite impressive, i think at times, more of the channels were in english than dutch.

Daft commies :D

BBC news has been in the dock for its openly anti-US, pro-European bias for some years now. People who just want the facts stick to Channel 4 news, CNN or the internet. But one reason why Clarkson is well-liked (or well-tolerated, at least) is that he bashes everybody - Germans, Australians, Americans, people from Birmingham, etc. And especially the loony goons at Transport 2000. He has no favourite car, nation or (quite unlike the BBC in general) political persuasion. The only manufacturer he used to go easy on was Jaguar, until someone pointed out that Jaguar used to give him cars to test for free. Subsequently, he dragged Jaguar over the coals for designing cars that look like fish.

He seems to fancy Aston Martin! But, then again, I think all brits are proud of Aston Martin. Never heard him say anything bad about an Aston.
