while driving “TPMS Inactive” came up,

pulled over, noticed under front passenger side a module “771 042-05” hanging out on 2 wires,
3rd wire got ripped out, while the unit was dragging in the road ( and apparently some previous owner or repairer just duct taped it ).

Strange that the module has 4 pins but only has 3 wires going to it, brown , black and grey, grey one was ripped out, was very obvious which pin,
but nothing on 4th pin, I traced the wires about a 2 feet from the module, doesn’t seem like there was 4th wire, only 3 wires wrapped in factory tape.

I reconnected all 3 wires using my own terminal kit.

But still “tpms inactive” is on,
erased the codes,
but fault code “6050, RDC transmitter, front right” still comes back up.

This module “771 042-05” , is it tpms module or rdc transmitter ?

And why are there only 3 wires going to it ?

I looked up wiring diagram, it showed 5 pins.. even more confusing

Is the problem the RDC or TPMS module or wheel TPMS sensor transmitter ?

Very confused here..

Each TPMS Transmitter is BMW Part# 36236771042. Here is example (see enlarged photo for how number appears on case):
https://www.autohausaz.com/pn/BM-36236771042

Here is the TIS circuit diagram for your 2007 335xi:
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/...dules/a85a-tyre-pressure-monitor-rdc/H2DAPopj

The Component ID# for the RF Transmitter is B47a, located in the center of the schematic, and you will note there are only three wires going to the transmitter. Each of the wires should have a White tracer on it, so the wire colors are actually Brown/White, Black/White and Gray/White.

Here is the "Connector View" for Connector X18041, at the Transmitter. You should have a similar transmitter at the rear of EACH wheel well:
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e90-335xi-lim/CTFmeNwr

If you don't like throwing parts, I would suggest testing the wiring at the connector, and or swapping a Transmitter from a different wheel well (all transmitters are same part) to see if fault follows transmitter which may have been damaged when it came loose.

Please let us know what you find,
George
