Pls be aware that Carfax monitors these (and other) forums and your post is an invitation for someone to get their account cancelled.

I don't mean to be mean, but if you can afford a BMW, why can't you afford the $30 for the carfax??

Partly because im looking for a new job, and my car has a 140000 on it, so please don't assume im rolling in cash. I never said I could afford driving this car, but if I need to fork out 450 bucks just to make it drivable since my insurance is trying to **** me, I think I would ask.

I dont know where your from but the rescission is taking it toll on me, and ive seen plenty of threads for persons asking for similar favors... I didnt mean to offend you by asking...

Carfax can monitor anything they want, no information is being transmitted over public forums, only through pm's so everyones identity would be safe...

Solidjake, basically got trapped between an 18 wheeler and a bus, both sides show significant damage, I was hospitalized for 4 days, and the 18wheeler drove away. Since he caused the accident gieco wont cover under collision coverage because the photo identification dont to the car has ALL the wrong information on it attached to my car. Its a big ****ing mess, and I could really use a this to try and prove the car was never in any other accident prior to this one.

Gotta be honest, I hate these comments. Driving a BMW doesn't make you well off anymore than going to McDonalds makes you a hamburger. Do you know how many 7 series owners probably barely make their car payments?

You have an 01 330ci and owe $140k. Damn, I would like to be your salesperson. A loaded 750il wouldn't be that much.
That's 140,000 miles......

Every 7 series owner who can barely make their payments (assuming they started out that way and didn't lose a job, etc) shouldn't be driving a 7 series. I can't afford one so I don't drive one.

BMWs are expensive to own (purchase price, maint, insurance, etc), so when I see posts like "I'm in college and I don't have much money...should I get an '04 325i or an '03 330i" my response is normally "find a used Civic or Corolla, then when you graduate and can afford it, get a BMW".

I guess I can rephrase my original thought as "if you can afford a car then you should be able to afford the $20 for a carfax".

Yes, we're all hurting no doubt.

You didn't offend me at all - just saying that people get their Carfax accounts closed all the time by doing "favors" like this, and you wouldn't want to be the cause of that, would you?

Ouch, sounds like a nasty accident - glad you're OK now. Was there a police report or anything? If the trucker was at fault, its his insurance that should pay, right? Is that Geico, or is that your insurance?

It's easy to speak this way from a place of having what you need. Some people have more month than money and struggle to survive. That doesn't make them bad people, it makes them people who are in need of help from friends. It is these times that you find out who your friends really are.

As of yesterday I had $341 in my checking account and don't get paid till next week. I make over $60k annually, but am the sole provider of a family of 6 (including me). There are plenty of times I can't spare an extra $20 outside my budget, that doesn't mean that I can't "afford" my car or that I am irresponsible. I go to work everyday, pay taxes just like you, and put food on the table for my kids and wife. I take issue with anyone who passes judgement on someone without knowing the circumstances of someones life.

As my dad always used to say "if you think you have it bad without shoes then I'll show you a man without feet". BMW has nothing to do with it.......

I got about $140 in my bank account overall and about $200 on me. I have no other money and I'm trying to sell stuff that I don't need. If I was in his position and someone had a carfax account lying around I would be happy as **** to get someone to run my car for me. Helping people is a good thing.

First off, sorry about your car and glad you're okay. Altercations between small cars and 18-wheelers rarely have good endings. I'm not sure how insurance works in the US, exactly, but the company the 18-wheeler belongs to should have fleet insurance. Do you have a police report that says he was at fault? I'm unclear on why geico won't cover the claim, the photo ID doesn't match your car? (am I reading that right?)

If I had a CarFax account I would run it for you.

Was the bus able to ID the tractor trailer? Company name on the trailer itself might help so you might want to contact bus company involved in the collision as well (they might be able to vouch for you).

ok since there is alot of confusing here ill explain:

Coming home from class, I was involved in this accident where as an ACME badged 18 wheeler side swiped me into a parked bus, damage on both sides of the car.

the 18 wheeler kept going and never stopped, I couldnt get a plate as I was trying to avoid the accident. The bus stayed put however no one on the bus got any information that could help...

I had collision coverage, what should allow the insurance company to fix this, and here's the problem...

Gieco requires the vehicle to be inspected and photographed, which I had done, however upon this accident the car inm question is not the car they have on file, linked to my name.

The car they have is a 99 323is (different vin, everything) but linked to my name. I have never owned that car and as far as im concerned this a mistake on thier behalf, but as I cant prove using that carco photographic evidence they are trying to weasel out of paying for the damage.

Not only do I have witness (mechanic, photos of my own, as well as documentation that the car has never been in a prior accident) seems to all be irrelevant to gieco as they are doing thier best not to cover me. I NEED THIS DOCUMENTATION, and will not sit back and get screwed out of getting reimbursed since I pay on time every time. I had the photos taken, and I wasnt responsible for filling out any of this information, as far as im concerned NONE of this is my fault.

Thanks for the help, sorry about the post, I never knew it to be illegal...

I am so confused about this thread. What's being asked here and why?
Why would Geico not cover you?

Never mind, you posted your explanation while I was posting the above question...

Are you saying that your insurance card has different VIN# on it than your car does?

This is a Bizarre situation...

I wonder what other things were different in their file than your actual car.

Sorry to hear about the accident, where in NJ were you? I had issues with GEICO trying to refuse claims for the craziest reasons, which is why I switched to NJ Manufacturers insurance. I have no idea how the wrong car could be on file, ask them to reference the VIN and contact NJMVS, see who it registers to as the owner. When in doubt go back to the place you had your initial vehicle photo/inspection when you first signed on with them. They make you go to one of their approved locations, so if the location has the correct info they should have to believe you. What VIN is on your GEICO issued insurance card?

Ok, how long ago did this incident take place? Acme Truck Lines should have been called immediately. You wouldn't need the license plate number. Their dispatch would know which one of their units was on that particular highway at approximately that time. It needed to be reported, particularly since there was personal injury involved (you spent 4 days in the hospital?). What does the police report say?

You have a registration (ownership) for the vehicle. DMV records will show that you've never owned a 99 323i with that VIN number. When you first put insurance on your car, you would have (probably) provided them with a copy of your ownership.

You need to march into your insurance company and ask to see your file. Speak to a manager, not a clerk. Tell them you are consulting with a lawyer and there's an issue of personal injury resulting from this accident.

Make a trip to your local DMV and see if they can provide you with a printout of what VIN's have been registered to you in the last 5 years.

Acme Truck lines needs to be dealt with. You need to report this incident. I'm not a litigious person, but if I spent 4 days in the hospital from a hit-and-run accident you can bet I'd be getting a lawyer.
