Oh come on... It makes a MUCH better subject line when you take a little bit of license with the specific facts. Still, in today's USA Today, it's called the "Bavarian Aztek". Yes, editorially, the USA Today did not make the reference nor did any USA Today staff member. Still, close enough to use as a "headline".ALEX325i said:Correction: Dan Gorell of Strategic Visions calls the new 7 Series the "Bavarian Aztek," a reference to the much-maligned Pontiac sport-utility vehicle that has been called "butt ugly" for its gawky hindquarters...![]()

Asked if he has any serious concerns, Helmut Panke, who is about to become chairman of BMW in April, pauses several seconds before answering: "What worries me is that our organization will think we can do no wrong given what we accomplished in such a tough year."
Sounds to me like he might not be so thrilled with all of the Bangle-ization going on...
That would be great if Pontic could build a sub-$25K 3 series :thumb:ALEX325i said:Back in the 1980s, Bob Lutz, who is new product chief at General Motors, worked for BMW. Today, he says, he constantly tests his company against BMW for "integrity of execution."
"They are about performance, and everything they do reflects that," says Lutz, who says he wants GM's Pontiac executives to study BMW as it refocuses its image and product line. (I know you E65 haters will give me $hit for that)

This Panke guy shows some real promise! :thumb: :thumb:The Rover debacle is the only obvious blot on BMW's recent record. But it's distant enough to give running room to Panke, who is tall, lean and silver-haired and has an ear for rock bands U2 and REM.
It goes much deeper than that... Granted, 7 owners shouldn't be worried about how much they'll spend on gas, but anything they can do to help improve fuel consumption should be welcomed (i.e. new CAFE standards, environment, etc.).JPinTO said:Bangle justifies the ugly rear end by pointing to "fuel economy" reasons on such a heavy car. Yah, E65 owners really worry about those fuel consumption numbers impacting their pocket books. Riiight!
You guys deserve a new license plate that reads: "Wisconsin... Land of Bangle" :lmao:BS' Bimmer said:I didn't know this:
" . . . Bangle, who was born in Ohio and raised in Wisconsin before moving to Europe 20 years ago."
Doh! You guys won't hold that against us board members from Wisconsin will ya?![]()
