Hello all. I recently took our 2013 E70 XDrive50i on to address white smoke at start-up and more than normal oil consumption. They replaced the Valve Guide Seals under warranty and sent me on my way. This morning I noticed a bit of white smoke at start-up drove 10 minutes, restarted and no smoke. Is a little white smoke to be expected on a cold start? Or should the car fire up and run with no smoke. Even if you hit throttle a little bit post startup.

I have 2 years of warranty left so I'm not urgent on getting it refixed but just wondered if my expectation is reasonable.

The car drives perfectly fine otherwise

To check valve seals.
Idle engine for 5 min when engine is hot, than ask someone to press acceleration pedal at full load and see if white smoke come from exhaust. If yes you have valve seal leak.

Just to be on the safe side I would recommend to use a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner to avoid any injector leaking.

Cool. I'll give this a try "Idle engine for 5 min when engine is hot"

Will run some Techron as well as part of standard practice.
