i just purchased a new battery for my 2004 325i. I was being in too big a hurry and put the vent insert into the wrong side neg. end,I then put the insert into the pos. side where it is suppose to go and inserted tube. Ny question is do I need to plug the neg. side and what do I use to plug it?

Should not leave a vent pipe on the battery open to the interior.
use a piece of clear tubing that fits the open vent (home depot), and plug one end with RTV to create a cap for the vent.
