Very sensitive throttle and high idle

97 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  N3mez
The throttle on my car is very sensitive, like, when I press pedal or pull cable just by 2mm the engine revs to 2,5-3k rpm.

Also when i start the car and warm it up a bit the idle start to go up and stays at 1200rpm when fully warmed.

Inpa shows error code ''idle speed control valve closing coil''

The obvious parts have been changed at least once - ICV, TPS(twice), MAF, CCV, temp sensor, O2 sensor.

There are NO vacuum leaks, ive checked many times, also all the intake gaskets are new.

Engine is M43b18, year 1996

This is dead end for me, pls send help

Welcome to Bimmerfest! Apologies for the delayed reply.

Where did you get the replacement ICV? There are dozens of cheap copies on the market, many marked identically to the genuine parts. The fake ones work poorly if at all.

Most likely it is garbage. Did you try cleaning the old one before buying a replacement? Did you get the error code with the old one? And are you getting that code with the new one?

I did. Error is present in old and new one. There is a feature in INPA software to activate certain things, in this case I can hear opening and closing ICV when I press on activate, so I don't think it is defective. There must be something wrong with wiring or electrical connections, I don't see any other causes to this...
