VPC Question...HELP - Jon Shafer

Hi all,

I've been at the vpc since 5/6, thats going on 9 days now. My estimated delivery date was 5/7 and hasnt been updated on owners circle. I called bmwna and my dealer but all they can tell me is that its still at the vpc. I know at least 7 others who were on the same boat as me that received their cars last week. Plus, my dealer is in nj and the others that received their car already were not even in the same state of the port like me. I'm not sure what to think.
1. Was my car damaged or am I just being paranoid?
2. Should my dealer or bmwna know at this point if the car has been damaged or do they have to wait for the "vehicle availability report"
3. And finally, if the car was damaged do I have any bargaining power or do I just have to deal with it. Laying out 40K for a car thats been damaged really doesnt excite me to much.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks DougDogs....

By Denville I assume you mean Gearhart ? How are they so far, service ok, they treating you right? I've heard good things about them.
9 days is **not** normal....

9 days is **not** normal.... If a prioritized, bona-fide sold order has been sitting at the VPC for 9 days there may be a problem. It could be a part on back order, and does not necessarily mean "damage" per se. You are obviously very excited, and understandably so. If the car is damaged, it's easy to find out. Bottom line: don't panic, or even worry. A simple telephone call or email to "Vehicle Distribution" by your Client Advisor should reveal what the hang up is...
Thanks Jon.

Thanks Jon.
Jon,

Apparently the car was damaged during shipping, scratch on the door needed to be repaired. In your opinion, is there any type of compensation/negotiation on the price since the car was damaged. Not sure about this, thanks for info.

You know, it's no fault of the dealer that the car was accidentally damaged. It was repaired under the strictest standards in the most pure environment by the manufacturer...

My best advice - let it go, don't get too bummed out, and soon you will have completely forgotten about it.
Gotcha Jon. Again, thanks for the advice.
VPC Revisited

I am in this boat and, after searching the Forum for similar situations, I found this. It helped.

This sounds exactly like what I am experiencing. It's comforting to know I'm not alone. Groupe hug!
