HI. I have a 2001 325xi. When I look at the dashboard, it shows warning lights for the rear lamps. Weird thing is the lights, brake lights, directional, and reverse lights work. Any reason why these are still on?
I would guess you have high resistance somewhere in your taillight circuit. The most common causes are:
1. The taillight(s) has a bad ground.
2. The bulb socket assembly(ies) has a bad circuit.
There is a recall for the sedan tail lights. Go to your dealer and ask if the recall was performed on your car. If it has the next step is to examine the bulbs. They may be aftermarket bulbs. They may have a different resistance than BMW bulbs. Also check the contacts in the light assembly to see if there's corrosion.
